Installing Wooden Worktops

1) Storage of Wooden Worktops.

FormWood UK Recommends new wooden worktops are installed as soon as possible after delivery to maintain the original cut and quality of the product. If storage is necessary, make sure the wooden worktops are kept in a WEATHER PROOF and DRY environment, and at a temperature and humidity that is as close as possible to the room the finished piece will be installed.

Store the wooden worktops FLAT and in their ORIGINAL PACKING. Wooden worktops should be raised off the floor by wooden batons spaced approximately 2 feet apart to prevent any bowing, warping or cupping in the wood.

2) Installation.

Prepare base and full-height units. Leave spaces for any slot in appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers. When levelled, securely attach the base units to the walls and each other.

WOODEN WORKTOPS MUST NOT BE INSTALLED ABOVE RADIATORS AND HEATING DEVICES

3) Wooden Worktops - Setting Out.

Walls are rarely ever perfectly straight. Your wooden worktops should have at least a 4-5 mm gap between
the back edge and the wall to allow for these discrepancies in the straightness of the wall, as well as allow
for natural expansion and contraction across the grain of the wooden worktops. Expansion gaps should be
sealed after fitting with a silicone sealant or covered with an upstand.
